We’re a third of the way through the Countdown and today’s creepy card is one of the last of the “creature” sub-category. I spent an inordinate amount of time as an 8 year-old staring at the below two stickers, 105a&b Juicy Jessica and Green Dean. Not only were these some of the first GPK cards I managed to get my grubby little fingers on in the 3rd grade, but these were some of the first that I peeled and slapped on my first skateboard deck too!
It didn’t hurt that the John Pound artwork features that really neat skeleton illustrating the latest victim of this maniacal man-eating plant, but there was plenty of drool-y blood which made it extra cool to my young eyes. This was a couple years before my parents let me go hog wild in the horror section of the local video store, so anything gruesome that I had access to was extra cool in my book (and in this case, my sticker book!) These stickers were originally released back in early 1986 as part of the 3rd series Garbage Pail Kids cards.
Once again, I’m also helping to organize the annual Countdown to Halloween alongside the tireless and super cool monster kid John Rozum. So if you like what I’m doing over here, you might want to head on over to the Countdown site and check out the huge list of other sites participating in this year’s spooky festivities. There’s also a like-minded sister collective called Blog-O-Ween being put together by my pal Cody, the Crooked Ninja Turtle Sensi. Be sure to check them out as well.
