Mon, 9 November 2009 ![]() Oh my god, three microcasts in a row? I suppose in this post Halloween afterglow it's sort of nice to just talk about some of the stuff that's on my mind rather than try and jump right back into writing columns. I do have a Peel Here that I want to get to this week though, so look for that later on. Anyway, in this episode of the Branded Microcast I ramble on about the Pryde of the X-Men cartoon for a bit… ![]() If you're interested in watching this beauty of a one-shot cartoon, it's up on youtube in nice bite-sized chunks (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, and Part 5.) I also talk about the X-Men arcade game that was sort of based on the cartoon.. Comments[2] |
When was the last time you were so obsessed with a movie that you watched it over and over like this? I miss being that enthusiastic about something. Maybe it's just a phase we go through in childhood. Maybe that's why I don't have a lot of DVDs or VHS tapes. Buying a movie to me is like making a commitment that I will watch it over and over, or at least be interested in it enough to do some analysis.
Even in my twenties when I was really loose with my entertainment money I just bought shows from my childhood I'd already seen a million times. My DVD collection is just a bunch of 80s cartoons or their Japanese equivalents, plus Fight Club. I'm glad my wife has movies so our collection looks somewhat balanced and less like a bunch of cartoons on VHS some little kid was hoarding in 1985.

Esteban - For some reason I really dug Hedwig and the Angry Inch (and watched it like four times in the span of three days a few years ago.) I totally agree though, I haven't been that obsessed with a movie or cartoon since I was 11 or twelve. I used to watch Transformers the Movie every day after school in the 8th grade. I think that was the last time.
Pretty much I only buy cartoons from the 60s-80s these days, though my wife and I do have a stupidly big DVD collection...
