Enjoyed the episode. We did not have any Showbiz Pizza’s up here in Baltimore, well at least none that I can recall, but we did have a Captain Andy’s Rivertowne (which I think may have been connected to Showbiz – http://www.showbizpizza.com/photos/misc/captandy/index.html) After that closed we would go to another now defunct restaurant called Party On Pizza, which was basically a chuck e cheese/showbiz minus the animatronics etc. Most of my early birthday parties were held at the local Mc. Donalds or Burger Kings though. I remember my 6th birthday, it was at the Burger King in Edgewood next to Rt 40. Anyway, my folks got there early and were setting up in side while I snuck off to the playground, what has always stuck out was that I froze on top of the twisting sliding board. To the 6 year old me it was the tallest thing in the world. I had it dead set in my mind that I would climb up the three plat forms to the ladder and slide down it… I guess it was a fear of heights, but I couldn’t get myself to slide down the thing, nor could I walk down the ladder to the lower platform. I broke, started to cry on the top of the slide for all the world to see. All of a sudden a I heard some honking. A guy who was stopped at the light saw me and started to honk his horn, he and a few other drivers started cheering me on and I slid down. I ran back inside, don’t think I ever played there again lol.

    • Oh man, those are some great memories. Yeah, from what I gather Showbiz was more of a south eastern thing, but they were on the verge of spreading nationally. I definitely had the Burger King birthday as a kid too…
