GPK Halloween Countdown Day 20, Mo Mummy Mo Mummy Mo Mummy…

By Shawn Robare

It’s day 20 of the Halloween countdown, we’re two thirds of the way through the month and I have a lot of fun stickers left to share!  Today we’re closing out Mummy weekend with another single sticker that I don’t have the twin for, 468a Mummified Clyde!

20 - Mummified Clyde

I love, love, love that not only did John Pound go for the toilet paper gag with this painting, but it’s also the rad extinct colored toilet paper I remember loving as a kid.  The outhouse pyramid is hilarious too.  This sticker hails from series 12 released in 1988.

Once again, I’m also helping to organize the annual Countdown to Halloween alongside the tireless and super cool monster kid John Rozum. So if you like what I’m doing over here, you might want to head on over to the Countdown site and check out the huge list of other sites participating in this year’s spooky festivities. There’s also a like-minded sister collective called Blog-O-Ween being put together by my pal Cody, the Crooked Ninja Turtle Sensi. Be sure to check them out as well.

Even if there is only one staff member, you Mr.Robare would be Employee of The Month for October. I gots to say thanks for all your efforts on Branded, I enjoy reading it and learning more about 80s stuff I may have missed. I have a vague memory of seeing a GPK toy in Kmart in the 80s, like a Skateboard crashing in to a street sign?

    • Thank you kindly sir! Hmmm, I’ll have to look up that toy. Sounds like Hurt Curt…

I was googling GPK toys and found the Skatebaord toys, looks like a False Nostalgia for me. They were called Skateboard Smack-Ups, produced in 1986 and had names like Sammy Stop Sign and Amy Asphalt. They are described on Wiki as being in the vein of GPK`s.

    • They definitely seem influenced by the GPK mania though for sure!

  • Cute!
